Libertarianism is the political doctrine of minimal government and the assignment of liberty—defined as freedom from coercion, sometimes called the non-aggression principle—as the primary value around which society is organized. Self-ownership, the belief that people should not be enslaved to others (at any rate, not without having consented to such an arrangement) is another key libertarian principle.
Most, though not all, libertarians support open borders and women's suffrage. Anarcho-capitalists don't believe in having a government at all, which renders the question of female suffrage moot.
Basil Ransom notes:
Libertarian policies, for the most part, would make us wealthier, because most of government is just people making laws to enrich themselves at the expense of everyone else. Economists call it 'rent-seeking.' Patents are one example. Much of the finance industry is as well. Most of the time when companies are making big profits, it's because there is some barrier to entry. Often, these barriers are rooted in government regulation. When there are no barriers to entry, profit dwindles to marginal levels.
I just put that up because libertarians often are nerdy - they're 'masculine' in the sense that the comic book guy from the Simpsons is. And because libertarians are children. I'll defer to the OG Russell Kirk who pimpsmacked libertarians to kingdom come. Libertarians make freedom the highest value, to the point where they make being a weirdo the cornerstone of their identity. Authentic, old school conservatives like Kirk laugh at libertarians for having such a narrow, contrived value system. It's like the psychologist Jonathan Haidt discovered of liberals - that conservatives have an appreciation for all six basic moral values that he identifies, while liberals only cared for three - for care, fairness, and liberty. Conservatives entertain those, as well as loyalty to one's family/group/nation, authority and sanctity. So if liberals are stunted conservatives, due to their narrower set of values, then libertarians are stunted liberals, whose only concern is freedom.
The Libertarian's advocacy of freedom also tend tends to make him a non-conformist in a lot of ways. This can be positive and relates to game in the sense that you don't give a fuck about what anyone thinks of you. But it can also be very negative if you're passionate about it. If you're social and passionate, it's worse. And if you can't pull it off in an alpha manner, you'll come off as annoying or weird. That person will often spend his time constantly whining and complaining about how if we only legalized weed, we'd create 700 trillion new jobs. That might bed pseudo-intellectual stoner sluts in college, but good fucking luck in the real world.
Libertarianism has developed many branches, offshoots, and variations. Some variations place more emphasis on laissez-faire economics while others emphasize liberty in the cultural arena.
Minarchism is the idea that there is a legitimate role for government in society, but one that is strictly limited in scope. One of the leading advocates of this position was Ayn Rand, who argued that the state's function was law enforcement, courts, and a military to protect the country for foreign invasion. However, the state would not interfere in economic matters, and all revenue would take the form of an enforcement fee-for-service on titles, contracts, deeds, etc.
Anarchism is the idea that government has no legitimate role and should be abolished. Anarchism itself exists in many forms, from the violent revolutionary ideas of Mikhail Bakunin to the genteel intellectualism of Murray Rothbard. Anarcho-capitalist books include, for example, The Market for Liberty and For a New Liberty.
Cultural libertarianism is an anti-censorship reaction to speech codes and censorship in the public and private domains.
Libertarian humanitarianism is the addition or emphasis of the liberal ideals of tolerance, benevolence, and equality to the non-aggression principle.
Libertarian brutalism is the self-adopted, somewhat ironic title adopted by libertarians who do not place a high value on modern liberal standards or do not wish to use social sanctions to enforce them.
Red pill libertarianism
National libertarians favor using the power of the free market to destroy inferior races.
A creepertarian is a libertarian who is being shamed as a creep.
